....THE VISIT....

IF THE PROPHET VISITED YOU,

JUST FOR A DAY OR TWO,

IF HE CAME UNEXPECTEDLY,

I WONDER WHAT YOU WOULD DO.

OH, I KNOW, YOU'D GIVE HIM YOUR NICEST ROOM,

TO SUCH AN HONOURED GUEST;

AND ALL THE FOOD YOU'D SERVE HIM,

WOULD BE THE VERY BEST.

AND, YOU WOULD KEEP ASSURING HIM,

YOU ARE GLAD TO HAVE HIM THERE,

THAT SERVING HIM IN YOUR HOME,

IS JOY BEYOND COMPARE.

BUT... WHEN YOU SAW HIM COMING,

WOULD YOU MEET HIM AT THE DOOR.

WITH ARMS OUTSTRETCHED IN WELCOME,

TO YOUR VISITOR?

OR...WOULD YOU HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR CLOTHES,

BEFORE YOU LET HIM IN?

OR HIDE SOME MAGAZINES AND PUT,

THE QURAN WHERE THEY HAD BEEN?

WOULD YOU STILL WATCH FORBIDDEN MOVIES,

ON YOUR TV SET?

OR WOULD YOU RUSH TO SWITCH IT OFF,

BEFORE HE GETS UPSET?

WOULD YOU TURN OFF THE RADIO,

AND HOPE HE HADN'T HEARD?

AND HOPE HE HADN'T UTTERED,

THE LAST LOUD, HASTY WORD?

WOULD YOU HIDE YOUR WORDLY MUSIC,

AND INSTEAD TAKE HADITH BOOKS OUT?

COULD YOU LET HIM WALK RIGHT IN,

OR WOULD YOU RUSH ABOUT?

AND, I WONDER... IF THE PROPHET* SPENT,

A DAY OR TWO WITH YOU,

WOULD YOU GO RIGHT ON DOING THE THINGS,

YOU ALWAYS DO?

WOULD YOU GO RIGHT ON SAYING THE THINGS,

YOU ALWAYS SAY?

WOULD LIFE FOR YOU CONTINUE,

AS IT DOES FROM DAY TO DAY?

WOULD YOU KEEP UP EACH AND EVERY PRAYER,

WITHOUT PUTTING ON A FROWN?

AND WOULD YOU ALWAYS JUMP UP EARLY,

FOR PRAYERS AT DAWN?

WOULD YOU SING THE SONGS YOU ALWAYS SING,

AND READ THE BOOKS YOU READ?

AND LET HIM KNOW THE THINGS ON WHICH,

YOUR MIND AND SPIRIT FEED?

WOULD YOU TAKE THE PROPHET WITH YOU,

EVERYWHERE YOU PLAN TO GO?

OR WOULD YOU, MAYBE, CHANGE YOUR PLANS,

JUST FOR A DAY OR SO?

WOULD YOU BE GLAD TO HAVE HIM MEET,

YOUR VERY CLOSEST FRIENDS?

OR WOULD YOU HOPE THEY'D STAY AWAY,

UNTIL HIS VISIT ENDS?

WOULD YOU BE GLAD TO HAVE HIM STAY,

FOREVER ON AND ON?

OR WOULD SIGH WITH GREAT RELIEF,

WHEN HE AT LEAST WAS GONE?

IT MIGHT BE INTRESTING TO KNOW,

THE THINGS THAT YOU WOULD DO,

IF THE PROPHET MOHAMMAD*,

IN PERSON CAME,

TO SPEND SOME TIME WITH YOU.

~The Value of Parents~

Tuesday, April 26, 2005
~~~I was just wondering how many of us actually value our parents for what they did for us, and what they are still doing for us =) ... we forget easily the pain our mothers went throught to get us to where we are today ... when you go home today ... give ur mama a hug n tell her u love her =) ... I LOVE MY PARENTS!! ~~~
A little boy came up to his mother in the kitchen one evening while shewas fixing supper, and he handed her a piece of paper that he had beenwriting on. After his mom dried her hands on an apron, she read it, andthis is what it said:
For cutting the grass: $5.00
For cleaning up my room this week: $1.00
For going to the store for you: .50
Babysitting my kid brother while you went shopping: .25
Taking out the garbage: $1.00
For getting a good report card: $5.00
For cleaning up and raking the yard: $2.00
Total owed: $14.75
Well, his mother looked at him standing there, the boy could see thememories flashing through her mind. She picked up the pen, turned over thepaper he'd written on, and this is what she wrote:
For 9 months I carried you while you were growing inside me: No Charge.
For all the nights that I've sat up with you, doctored and prayed for you:No Charge.
For all the trying times, and all the tears that you've caused through theyears: No Charge.
For all the nights that were filled with dread, and for the worries I knewwere ahead: No Charge.
For the toys, food, clothes, and even wiping your nose: No Charge,Son,
When you add it up, the cost of my love is: No Charge.
When the boy finished reading what his mother had written, there were bigtears in his eyes, and he looked straight at his mother and said, "Mum, Isure do love you".And then he took the pen and in great big letters he wrote: "PAID IN FULL"
"Your Lord has decreed that you should worship nothing except Him, andshow) kindness to your parents, whether one or both of them attain old age(while they are) still with you, never say to them 'Shame! nor scoldeither of them. Speak to them in a generous fashion. Protect themcarefully and say: 'My Lord, show them mercy, just as they cared for me asa little child'"[Surah 17:23-24].
REMEMBERING A KURDISH VILLAG
Saturday, April 23, 2005
(Shahin B. Soreklî)
A village once stood here embraced by trees,
Divided by a stream surrounded by hills.
Almond trees in spring stood red and white,
Herds of sheep grazed in the nearby valleys.
Merry folks once dwelled in this very place,
hard on land they held in grace.
In their colourful dresses pretty girls chattered,
Admired by young lads with hearts full of love.
Old men sat on grass in joy smoking pipes,
Women gossiped and laughed spinning their wool.
Children ran around singing innocent songs;
The thought of death far, man and nature smiled.
Today there is silence, no one can be heard;
The village in ruins the stream is dead.
Only one in thousands is this Kurdish village;
Dear God enough misery: give Kurdistan life
Be Thankful.....
BE THANKFUL
Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire,
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know something
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge
Because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes
They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you're tired and weary
Because it means you've made a difference.
It is easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also
thankful for the setbacks.
GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles and they
can become your blessings.
